Dear Mom,

50 years! Wow! Even though I have only been with you for 24 of those years, I know you spent all 50 preparing to be the mother that you are today. Looking back at all our time together, I couldn’t have asked for a better mom. You love each of your children unconditionally. Despite the many challenges each of us presented, you faced each of them head on and even managed to come out smiling. I know I wasn’t the easiest child, but I never once doubted your love for me.

I thank you for the emphasis you placed on education in my life. You showed me the value of knowledge and being prepared. Now Andy and I both have college degrees and we owe you a lot for getting us there. I am so proud of you now for going back and finishing college for yourself. Despite the odds and your busy schedule, you always manage to set a good example for us all.

I am so happy to be following in your footsteps as an Early Childhood Educator. I know how hard you have worked throughout your career, and you have so much to show for it! I value everything you have taught me. Everyday children are touched by your loving and caring heart, and many will never forget you. You will never know how many lives you have changed!

You have set an amazing example for Andy and I on how to be a good parent. I look at how you have cared for our brother his entire life. Through tantrums, hospitalizations, and sleepless nights, you never stopped treating him like the special blessing that he is. You have continually put his needs and wants before your own. Even when choices are tough, you always think of him first. If I can have half your strength and dedication as a mother, David will be a lucky boy. I know Heavenly Father placed Eric in our family for a reason, and I know you have not disappointed him at all!

On top of being a wonderful Mom, you are also my best friend. I love our nightly phone calls, our almost monthly visits, our shopping expeditions, and every precious second we get to spend together. We laugh together, cry together, and conquer life together. I really do appreciate all that you have done for me. You always manage to help me through challenges and trials, and help me celebrate the victories. I love you so much and look forward to many, many more years!

Love,
Joy
